Is there scientific proof that adding a spoonful of lard to cooking beans make them more digestible?

I’m a healthy 71 year old and our family tradition from the time I was seven is to have beans at least five times a week. Always started the cooking process by adding a small spoonful of lard and a quartered onion when starting to boil the beans. We never suffered the penalty of gas as many people complain when eating beans. I understand the lard is a catalyst that changes the bean enzyme to make the body digest the bean as though it were meat. Nothing left fermenting in the intestine which is what causes flattulence. Any science on this subject?
